1983: postdoctoral qualification and an authorisation to teach at the university in the subject of gynaecology and obstetrics (Westphalian Wilhelm University, Muenster)
1984: civil service for a limited period and appointment as a temporary professor (the State government of North Rhine-Westphalia, Duesseldorf)
1991: appointment as an associate professor (the Minister for Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia)
